Graham Smith's Grimhilde 2.0
'The Phoenix Project'

Long time customer Graham Smith and the Bad Apple Racing team went through every drag racers worst nightmare in May of 2025. Graham's '57 Chevy a.k.a Grimhilde, suffered a catastrophic nitrous fire in the shut down area at Santa Pod raceway, Thankfully, due to the incredible safety crew at Santa Pod, and the fact Graham was wearing all the correct safety gear, he walked away relatively unscathed. Sadly the same could not be said for the car.

After taking some time to regroup, the team got straight back to it, planning the resurrection, and with some incredible displays of support and generosity from the drag racing community, Grimhilde 2.0, 'The Phoenix Project', was well underway.

Gone is the nitrous system, in its place now are a set of twin turbo chargers strapped to the 632ci Jeff Bull Racing engine. Also gone is the old matte black paint scheme, in favour of new slick, gloss black finish.

Thanks to great sponsors, fellow racers and friends, the rebuild is storming along at lighting speed.
The car is currently at fellow Design by Binnie customers Boost Monkey Racing getting the turbo kit plumbed in along with some other fabrication work. The plan is for Grimhilde 2.0 to debut in May 2026 FIA Main Event and Santa Pod Raceway.
